Kaspersky Lab today announced that its founder and CEO, Eugene Kaspersky, will give a speech at Infosecurity Europe 2012 entitled “The Internet as a Military-Free Zone - a Dream or an Opportunity?”
Kaspersky Lab today announced that its founder and CEO, Eugene Kaspersky, will give a speech at Infosecurity Europe 2012 entitled “The Internet as a Military-Free Zone - a Dream or an Opportunity?”. During the speech, Eugene, a world authority on cyber warfare and cyber terrorism, will describe the impact of state-sponsored malware programmes like Stuxnet and Duqu, as well as what we can expect in the future.
Open to all delegates, Eugene’s speech will run from 2.00 to 2.25 pm on 26 April in the Business Strategy Theatre. The exhibition takes place from 24 to 26 April at Earls Court, London. Kaspersky Lab will be showcasing its full range of award-winning business security software solutions throughout the exhibition on stand C60.
Inducted into the InfoSecurity Europe Hall of Fame back in 2010, Eugene Kaspersky is one of the globe’s top antivirus experts with over 20 years of experience in the information security field.
Commenting on his upcoming presentation, Mr Kaspersky said: “In this world of ever-increasing IT security threats, Infosecurity is fast becoming one the most important gatherings of the year. It is one of the few exhibitions that allows for a meeting of minds among some of the most influential information security experts in the world - allowing them to work together to create a safer online environment for organisations of all sizes.”
Introducing the main ideas of his speech, Mr Kaspersky added: “This year I’ll be talking about how the increasing militarization of the Internet is becoming more and more ominous. By that I mean that conventional military action is fast moving over into the online realm - in which an all-out cyber war could break out if we don’t put some proper “arms controls” in place, much like those on nuclear weapons’ proliferation.”
Eugene Kaspersky will be joined at the show by virtualization expert Peter Beardmore, who is flying in from the US to speak about the company’s latest product, Kaspersky Security for Virtualization.
Also in attendance will be David Jacoby, Kaspersky Lab’s senior security researcher and member of its “GReAT” Global Research & Analysis Team, who’ll be flying in from Sweden for the exhibition.
Senior security researcher David Emm, a fellow member of GReAT, will also be on hand to discuss IT threats and identity theft.
All four will be available during the exhibition to discuss the latest security threats and give forecasts regarding virtualization and mobile devices.
